DANCE AFTER WORK
Dance Tips
  • Relax your mind and your body before the class begins.
  • Please DO NOT BE LATE to your sessions: remember there might be a session before or after you.
  • Wear light comfortable loose-fitting clothing.
  • Bring another pair of shoes to dance in: shoes with non-sticky soles that allow for pivoting ·
  • Do not come to the class with a full stomach (Don't eat right before the class) ·
  • Bring water - you'll get thirsty ·
  • Use of a deodorant and breath mints are highly, highly recommended ·
  • Focus on learning one thing at a time: footwork first, then the body position, the arms, etc. ·
  • Be patient and persistent: it takes at least a few classes before things start to flow.
  • Don't expect to get everything the 1st time ·
  • Commit to at least a 1 month series of progressive classes. To be effective, you should take classes regularly without long lapses between lessons ·
  • Taking notes after class on the material learned is strongly encouraged ·
  • Practice between classes ·
  • GO OUT and DANCE!

Be Aware of the Bumps, and Enjoy the Ride!

Mastering dancing is HARD, and it's SLOW. You have to accept and understand it. It's like going up the staircase: you can't really get to the top of it immediately. IT TAKES TIME and EFFORT and NOT GIVING UP. You may be frustrated sometimes (with yourself, or your partner, or your teacher), because you can't get the movement or pattern. Everyone goes through these periods of ups and downs. Please don't be hard on yourself. You WILL get it later and you'll be HAPPY. If you hang in there, you'll love it, and it will become a beautiful part of your life that brings you the connection with yourself, your body, and the music, and the partner.

This is one of your BEST INVESTMENTS. It is not watching SOMEBODY doing something and enjoying life, It's YOU participating, doing, and living your life full.
